They study topics as large-scale as global development (see Nelson), and as micro-scale and everyday as the definition of our individual identity and control of our bodies (see Gilbert). Political geography is now a vibrant body of research after emerging from post–World War II doldrums. Despite its connections to the topics studied by members of all of the specialty groups of the International Studies Association, it is often misrepresented and, therefore, underutilized.
